Spring Tour 2019 ... Kiln 2

Sam Chung of University of Arizona presented a fine ceramics workshop in Anchorage last weekend. It's great to see others work with clay and to learn new techniques and tips from the masters! Thanks to the Anchorage Clay Arts Guild for offering the workshop.

I promised to post photos of work from kiln 2 for the upcoming May 25 "A Great Day To Be In Willow" event.  The plan is to have kiln 3 images posted next week, so do check back to see the blog at least once more before the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.  The flyer about the multiple events on that day is here.

Hopefully, there's something from kiln 2 that you like! Thanks for looking.

Pie plates/platters in various sizes and surfaces.
In Alaska, the rustic look appears and appeals on many forms.

Oval platters, feminine vase, sauce warmer, and bacon baker.

Love what the glazes did on the interior of this bowl.

Look for details...stamped, carved, and brushed.
Salmon again, a couple serving bowls and tiles.
Closer view of fish on hanging tile.
Bowls and apple bakers... request the recipe with the latter.

Mugs, moose, and upright spoon holders.

Within a week, I'll post more large serving pieces, yarn bowls, bacon bakers, ornaments, buttons, and whatever else I round up in the studio that has had its first firing and is awaiting glazing and a second firing.  With less than two weeks to  "A Great Day To Be In Willow," it's time to hustle.

If you have questions, please send them. I am happy to answer and to send additional photos if requested to do so. Since this is a one-woman operation with a wonderful helper (think husband),  I am familiar with each and every piece you see posted.  Hope to see many of you on May 25!

Yes, the Mailer's Dahlia Sale will be set up with 50 plants, and a very extensive collection of fiber arts books, donated by Joan Edwards, will be for sale. These are fundraisers for the New Willow Library and Community Upgrade Project...which is rolling right along.  For those of you who are runners and walkers, meet at the Library at 10:00 to register and get your exercise before heading out on the Studio Tour of three studios.  The details are at:

That's all for now. Come back to see what gets fired in kiln 3.
