Spring Tour 2019 - The Dahlia Sale!

Image
Yes, they are here: beautiful, healthy, and ready to sell on Saturday at the Spring Art Tour 2019.  Thanks to the Mailers.  The sale of red dahlias is a fundraiser for Willow Library Association . . . and more specifically is targeted to help build a new Willow Public Library. Hope to see you Saturday, May 25. ~ Carol

Spring Art Tour 2019 . . . Beyond the Pottery

Image
Another area of the studio is set up with knit hats, felted wool clogs, baby gifts, music CDs, and books. An "eclectic" collection, yes.  And outdoors are healthy, wonderful dahlia plants ready to beautify your property. The Mailer's plants are incredible! These are likely to sell quickly based on the reputation they have for doing well in new locations.  It is 11:00 at night as I'm writing this, and although there's still plenty of daylight to photograph the plants, but I think I'll hold off on that until tomorrow. Here are some non-pottery items you'll find in the studio: It's nice it is to have a handmade baby gift on hand. Select . . . and make a donation to the Willow Library Donation Box Music lovers may find something here. Select ... and donate. Felted wool clogs in a variety of sizes, and other knit items. Yes, winter will come again. A new hat for you or a friend?

Spring Art Tour - Kiln 3

Image
On track, with third kiln unloaded today.  Some of the usual and some of the unusual. With the tour less than a week away, there's need to pick up the pace a bit. I should also mention that at this stop on the tour you'll find 50+ dahlias, a life-long collection of fiber arts books, and a collection of music CDs as well.  The sale of plants, provided by Bill and Kathy Mailer and Cindy Forsyth, and the books and CDs provided by Joan Edwards, are all fundraisers for the Willow Library Association. Now, to the pottery from kiln 3.  An additional posting is intended later in the week to show knit pieces you'll find at this stop on the tour. Bacon cookers...drape strips over giant mug and catch all drippings. Ornaments...the best large moose ever from my kiln! Buttons...hearts, cabins, bears, trees, fish, moose. Buttons sorted, and some Alaskana ornaments. Experimenting with lighter colors for spring. New forms, a couple covered and one on a...

Spring Tour 2019 ... Kiln 2

Image
Sam Chung of University of Arizona presented a fine ceramics workshop in Anchorage last weekend. It's great to see others work with clay and to learn new techniques and tips from the masters! Thanks to the Anchorage Clay Arts Guild for offering the workshop. I promised to post photos of work from kiln 2 for the upcoming May 25 "A Great Day To Be In Willow" event.  The plan is to have kiln 3 images posted next week, so do check back to see the blog at least once more before the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.  The flyer about the multiple events on that day is here. Hopefully, there's something from kiln 2 that you like! Thanks for looking.  Pie plates/platters in various sizes and surfaces. In Alaska, the rustic look appears and appeals on many forms. Oval platters, feminine vase, sauce warmer, and bacon baker. Love what the glazes did on the interior of this bowl. Look for details...stamped, carved, and brushed. Salmon again, a coup...

Spring Tour 2019 ... Kiln 1

Time to start showing some of the new work that will be available on May 25 during A Great Day To Be In Willow.   First, the flyer with details about why it's a great day to be in Willow, and then the new pottery from Kiln 1. Here are items from the most recent glaze firing.  Images should enlarge. Large serving platter, matching mugs, and a couple other pieces...all in sage. Another round of bowls to hold yarn...Happy Mother's Day! Bowls...carved, silk screened, and embellished in many ways. There's always need for a variety of small pieces, even butter warmers! The apple bakers are ready. They've been popular. The serving pieces, too, are ready to go to new homes. Mugs, tumblers, and mini bowls, of course. Pie plates, always. And, these cute little ones will proudly hold whatever you put in them! Let me know if you have questions or requests:  carolgoltz@gmail.com
