November 11, 2013 - Veterans Day

Thanks to those who choose to serve in our military --  past, present, and future, and who perform honorably when doing so. It's a beautiful morning in Willow -- snowy, still, and bright.  And, I just listened to a delightful interview with two little girls, regarding a hair cutting incident, reminding me of how wonderfully perceptive little ones can be! A good way to start the day!

The final firing prior to this weekend's WillowAK Pottery Open Studio event is nearly complete and will be unloaded tomorrow. Yesterday I unloaded lots of potential gifts for Christmas, birthdays, housewarmings, hostesses, weddings, thank you, etc.  Each is one of a kind and totally handmade -- and there are many of a size to be stocking stuffers!   Plus, there are now gift certificates for WillowAK Pottery if you'd like someone to select her/his own piece with personality. These can be arranged for in the studio -- or with a phone call (907-360-3696) or an email message (willowakpottery@gmail.com).

Now it's time to clean the studio. Hope to see many of you next weekend. Willow's winter wonderland look has returned and we'll have hot beverage and goodies for you on Saturday (10:00-5:00) and Sunday (1:00-5:00).   The following pieces were unloaded yesterday:

These will hold balls of yarn for knitters and crocheters

Mugs -- a variety of size, shape, color and design

Large serving bowls in requested glazes

Another large serving bowl -- carved and embellished

The leaf design is back in service on mugs

Serving pieces in another requested glaze combo

Mini pieces -- jewelry, nuts, olives, candies, coins, etc.

A soft, light color combo of sage and sand

Platters about 14" in diameter

More little bowls -- welcomed gifts

The final two mugs -- a total of 18 in this firing

Medium-sized plate and large platter

The blues have it!

Tumblers -- for your beverage of choice

Three berry bowls - dark, medium, and light

Stars -- for the fun of it.
