Open Studio Event Coming Soon!

Yes, the June 28, 29 WillowAK Pottery Open Studio dates are coming soon.  Hope you marked your calendar earlier and are planning to come by.

Here's an image of the flyer with details.  Because it is an image, the links aren't "active." Sorry.
We've had a good June, with the highlight being company from Duluth.  One week with an adorable almost-one-year-old little girl is something we recommend to anyone!  So cute and entertaining!!

Have caught my first King of the season, did a fun alcohol ink workshop at the Machetanz Festival, enjoyed good family and friend times, have been creating with clay and wool, and Keith's done some shooting, dog training, landscaping, and much more.  He keeps the home front going and the John Deere garden tractor on the move.

There's one more kiln load of work yet to be completed, but some of the following photos give you an idea of what's currently on the shelves in the studio:

A bit off topic is my new favorite beer can. Paddle Break
suggests you paddle responsibly. Have you tried this brew?

Sage and blue glaze continue to please, as do colanders and bowls.

Bright colors are having their turn on the palette.

Each curved piece is about 12" long with a hole for hanging.
Ideas?  How would you use these?  Wall decor?

Sunflower apron made by a friend.
 Thank you, Mary!

Sage glaze, translucent, with embellishments.

Summer green is a winning color, as is shorebreak.
Hanging on far right end of the rack are mugs.

Mobile yet to be assembled.
Maybe a gentle breeze chime?
Merlot and summer green glazes, with
cobalt accent.

With Duluth family in Talkeetna, in search of The Mountain.
She has a way of hiding when visitors come.

Tea dust...sure varies according to firing temp

Felted, wool clogs -- super thick, cozy, and warm.
100% Icelandic wool felted multiple times in washer.

Can I sneak this into the blog?
We did eat him off clay plates.
Thanks for grilling, Steve.

Shorebreak glaze does better with some colored accents.

Felted clogs -- 100% Icelandic wool knit and then felted.
This pair has hand felted embellishment as well.

Black (midnight blue in sunlight) with nutmeg.
Rich color combo.

The salmon are in. One fish, two, fish, three fish -- for Dr. Seuss.

Wool, felted bowl -- felted even more after photographed,
so now is more firm and dense than shown.
Felting reminds me a bit of glazing: it alters the piece's
appearance and introduces an element of surprise.

Black, grey, white with vines and berries.
More attractive in person than in photo.
A final word:  Yes, I can guarantee no snow or ice at the Spring/Summer Open Studio, something I can't guarantee for the Fall/Winter event.  The WillowAK Pottery Facebook page still exists, but since only Facebook users can access it, I'm blogging -- from time to time. Thanks for enough interest to get to the bottom of this posting! If you have any questions, please get in touch.
