Getting close -- the Willow Holiday Art Studio Tour is happening this Saturday, November 22! The last two blogs were about the beautiful quilted items, wood items, and the Iditaquilt Guild's queen sized raffle quilt.   I hope you'll check those last few postings if you've not yet seen the wonderful work other artists will be selling here at WillowAK Pottery.  And, remember, our studio is just one of three you'll want to visit.

Two pieces of  BIG news:

1. Willow Creek Studio is generously offering a $100  gift certificate to our lucky door prize winner!  How's that for being super generous -- and supportive of the arts in Willow! To be eligible, you must visit all three studios on the tour and have your door prize ticket validated at each.  Leave it with the host at the third studio you visit, and if it has been validated at all three studios, it becomes part of the drawing.   On the back side of the door prize ticket is a map directing you to each of the studios.  The tour begins at 10:00 and continues until 5:00. We've suggested starting at Willow Creek Studio, mile 69.5, but if you are familiar with the studios involved and it makes sense to start at one of the other two, that works, too.  Bonnie's Blings Studio is at mile 64.5, and WillowAK Pottery is on Shirley Lake at 25879 W Southlake Drive.   There is also a WACO Holiday Bazaar taking place in the Willow Community Center on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend,  so lots of shopping opportunity!

2. Raffle tickets are now available for the 2014 Iditaquilter's Quilt.  You can see the quilt in a previous blog posting -- and, better yet, it will be displayed at WillowAK Pottery during the tour on Saturday, with tickets available from Iditaquilters for $5.  For additional information, please contact Beth Taber at eataber@gmail.com.

Finally, since this blog claims to be about pottery, photos of some new pieces, unloaded from the kiln yesterday, are provided below.   They will join the collection of "pieces with personality" from previous firings, as well as the felted clogs, wine bottle wraps, mini Christmas stockings, felted bowls and hats, paintings, etc.  Come shop and enjoy a good time!

See you Saturday!

"Distinguished" serving bowl; ruler above indicates size

French butter crocks; six patterns available

Another large serving bowl -- organic and festive

Medium sized bowls - buddies
Bowls thrown together, stay together -- or not

Elegant serving bowl; you can see shadows through the porcelain

Some mugs are singles

Some mugs are triplets, trying to be individuals

Some mugs are twins -- fraternal
Yes, there are plenty of yarn bowls this time, so if you have a knitter or crocheter on your list, and s/he does not yet have a yarn bowl, you are in luck.  Check with your local yarn stores, too, if you're unable to participate in the tour.  The Tangled Skein, Quilted Raven, Far North, and Yarn Tree are all carrying yarn bowls from WillowAK Pottery!

Knit or crochet; yarn feeds through the holes and ball of yarn stays in the bowl

The slab roller had a little exercise recently, making fish and moose ornaments, tea bag holders, pendants for jewelry,  spoon rests and more.  Here are some whimsical sets that could be used for holding sushi and chop sticks,  crumpets and teabags, or whatever you think they'd be good for!  Thanks for the idea, Janet.  Will bring some in to Town Square Art Gallery when I make more.

Will be cleaning in the studio the next couple of days, getting ready for visitors on Saturday.  So far, roads are clear, weather's been great, and Mt McKinley has been out in all her glory most days in recent weeks. Forecast for Saturday looks good!
