Turkey Time...and Pie Plates

There's a fox in the fog and snow if you look closely.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  Love that it's all about family, friends, and food, without being as commercialized as other holidays.  Over the years, friends who bake wonderful pies have revealed that they often don't get their pie plates returned; those clear glass Pyrex pie plates somehow get added to a stack of similar pie plates in a kitchen away from home, so replacements are needed.  Sound familiar?  I've had requests for "personalized pie plates" and other requests for any pie plate that will stand out from the Pyrex collection.  Unloaded a few like that from the kiln yesterday:
Same snowfall... enjoyed by a rascally rabbit.

Not much snow outside in Willow yet,  but it was time to make some happen in the studio.   Although these are referred to as "pie plates," they serve well for baking rolls or brownies, for serving cookies or bars, for presenting an assortment of veggies, or for offering cheese and crackers or chips and dips. A pretty versatile piece in the kitchen and at the table.
Yes, these porcelain pieces are oven and dishwasher safe and should serve you for many, many years!

(The photos will enlarge, and the ruler should help give you an idea of the size of the piece.)

No critters, but dramatic design
Heading to Carol's Kitchen
You know about the shoemaker whose kids go barefoot, right?  Well, the potter's kitchen often adopts the "oops!" pieces.  I'm giving a home to the floral piece above because of a flaw in the bottom side.  It will bake fine and do all that it should do for many years, but I won't put it on the studio shelves or deliver it to a retail shop or gallery.  Do like how the flowers turned out, though, so will do that again.

Come back soon for more postings.  Lots of ornaments coming soon.
Good luck with your pie baking and Happy Thanksgiving!
