Carol's Knits

Clay or yarn?  A difficult decision some days, but what fine options for someone content to be alone working on a creative project in a beautiful setting!  I've posted many images in the past week to show samples of the wood, fiber, and clay items you'll find at WillowAK Pottery on Saturday, Dec. 2.  I also promised a peek at some of the knit items.

First the felted clogs.  These are knit of 100% wool and look very huge and floppy until they are agitated in hot water in a washer multiple times (five or six) so the fibers shrink and interlock into a dense, warm, wool fabric.  If they are a bit too big, another round of agitation in the washer is likely to correct that. These tend to take on the shape of your feet once you're worn them for awhile, and do fall into that category of "cozy and comfy." Some people insert an insole to extend the life of the clogs and/or to provide arch support.

Knit, wet felted, then embellished with needle felting.

A modified pattern from Norwegians Arne & Carlos.

Plain is sometimes preferred...or needle felting could be added.
Sled dog pair and multicolor striped pair.

Then, there are the hats.  Big hats, little hats, fancy hats, plain hats.

Swirl hat.  Not wool, for those allergic to wool.

Wool cables for the lady; cotton & spandex for the little one.

Blues and grays, pinks and browns. Not square. Tissue box inside.

Wool sock yarn set for a special baby.

Another washable wool set for an infant.

Head bands and tiny Christmas stockings.

Last of all...  Silent Auction.  We do include some kind of a fundraiser for the Willow Library during each of the Studio Art Tours.   At WillowAK Pottery there will be a silent auction. The piece of pottery offered will be this bowl with a silkscreened bird design:

High bidder receives the bowl and the Grow Your Library Fund receives the $.
Thank you for being generous with your bids.
See you Saturday!
