Art Tour News:  Saturday, May 26, in Willow . . .

Once again, on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, it will be a GREAT day to be in Willow.
There's a 5K race/walk and a plant sale, both fundraisers for the New Library and Community Center Upgrade Project. (The Mat-Su Assembly approved a budget including $1.9 million for this project, so with the nearly $1.7 million award from Mat-Su Health Foundation, fundraising efforts continue.)

There's the Studio Art Tour on the 26th, as well.  Three studios are participating:  WillowAK Pottery, Willow Creek Studio, and Karen Mattson Studio. Bonnie's Borealis Glassworks is taking a break, but expecting to be back for the Holiday Tour in December.  Watch for tour news from the other studios.

In addition to the pottery available at WillowAK Pottery, you will find a beautiful selection of  knit, felted,  and quilted fiber arts by Carol, Melinda and Joan, plus wood pieces created by Bill Dale and  Norm Wakeman.  Eventually, a variety of sample photos will be posted here, so do check back.

Here are some of the porcelain "pieces with personality" that came out of the kiln this morning:

See the moose at the foot of the mug?  A friend has already claimed this one.

Three shorelines -- one suggested in the glaze and two on the lake.

This one left the studio today.  Happy Father's Day to someone.
Mugs in many sizes and shapes.
Mugs in many colors and designs

Tumblers, too.
Yes, the mug rack pegs are full once again.

Serving bowl in nutmeg and black.
The rustic look for Alaskans.

Another in amber tea dust and stormy night glazes.
Leave it on the table as a centerpiece.
Yet another  serving bowl with its shape altered for a modern look.
Wedding gifts needed?

.

One with a silk-screened leaf, slip trailing and accent colors.
Dressy, with a touch of Mother Nature.
These are new colors planned for use in the next glaze firing. This fish is simply a test piece.  Like the colors?

Buttons, tea bag holder, Alaska ornament with dipper.
A small, handmade gift is appreciated.
Mini bowls....salt? dips? nuts? pills? you decide!
