Back To Studio? Is It Time?

As one who always considered "back to school" a very significant event,  I am now feeling that public education, as I have experienced it, will never be the same. How difficult a scenario these days for students, teachers, staff, administration, parents, families, and communities. So many people are working diligently to do what seems best, in a cloud of uncertainties. Where is a magic wand when it is needed?

Maybe I should just go back to the pottery studio and get into the swing creating with porcelain once again. Yes, I have been saying that would happen for some time, but it has not happened. With birch leaves yellowing and falling; families and educators wrestling with schooling options; and unpredictability interfering with decisions regarding travel, health, social interaction, economics, careers, and more, this may be the time for "back to studio."

Fortunately, the summer has offered some benefits and pleasures, such as Zooming regularly with family and friends near and afar; reading way more than usual; reacquainting myself with sourdough baking; grocery shopping exclusively online for parking lot pickup; feeling unscheduled and free to start and stop projects as I wish, when I wish, and if I wish. Other benefits and pleasures have been captured through photos, a sampling of which are displayed below. As you'll notice, our "bubble" is pretty small!

The ice left, the leaves popped, spring had sprung!

There were knitting patterns to test out.

The grass grew and trees showed promise.

Taking a break from landscaping.

The same bisque ware still awaits glazing. Hmmm...

Our dogs on alert to see what they can see.

Relaxing on a beautiful day.

Anchorage grandsons came for Camp Willow.

After lake fun there are games to play.

Camp is over and it's time to say goodbye.

Peonies and columbine in the garden.

White peonies from a friend.

Loons nested as usual, but we saw no little ones.

Getting ready to visit Seward.

Spectacular Resurrection Bay!

A fine crew.

Container gardening...mobile style.

Sourdough banana nut, chocolate, and batter in the pitcher.

Sourdough bread...over and over.

Deck flowers on the lakeside.

More peonies from a friend...and the willow pattern in use.

Meadow mowing for the sandhill cranes.

The next post will focus on pottery!
After all, that's what WillowAK Pottery should be about.
While others go back to school, I will go back to studio.
Do stay healthy, be helpful, and show kindness in this challenging time.
