Let the GLAZING begin . . .

I have bisque fired these pieces, washed them, applied wax resist to the bottoms to prevent their sticking to the kiln shelves, and now it's time to begin stirring up the glazes for application.  There are requested pasta bowls to underglaze with a serene scene, ornaments to memorialize loved pets, halibut platters, large and small bowls, trays, some coasters, and more. Along with the glazing and firing of these pieces, I will try single firing a collection of mugs to see how that goes. Probably have a couple loads to glaze all together.

Have to admit that the making is far more interesting to me than the marketing. There have been many donations this winter to silent auctions and other fundraisers; once this body of work is glazed, it will be time for me to move pieces to galleries and gift shops.  Or, if you see something you'd like to know details about, drop me a note

Keith has dahlia bulbs sprouting. Spring will come!  Meanwhile we're enjoying some beautiful sunshine in Willow this week. We also know that many inches of snow are forecast, which will mean more snow blowing and shoveling in coming days for the man of the house.  Winter Carnival events continue over the coming weekend, and then it is Iditarod time, with the Willow restart on March 5!  At some point we plan a drive to see the International Ice Sculpture event in Fairbanks, along with exploring a bit at and around UAF.

'Tis time to head to the studio with my "to do" list. Thanks to those of you who have patiently awaited the completion of pieces you've requested. For some reason, the fast forward button no longer works on this potter and slow motion seems to be the default when it comes to projects.

Hope you, too, are enjoying the beauty of winter and the anticipation of spring!
