The New Year is here...we're moving forward!

The yard is full of snow.

Today the colored lights on the front porch will come down, as will those in the loft. We've had Christmas, my birthday, New Year, and Keith's birthday.  We've appreciated special visits with family and friends in recent weeks and are so very grateful to be looking forward to longer days, more sunshine, and decent health -- for you and for us.  This week, the clay mixer in the studio is due to have a new controller installed, and soon we hope Keith's John Deere snowblower will again be performing as it should.  Still more research to do on that. Then...we're ready to move forward!

Willow could not be more beautiful than it has been recently. Pure white snow, still woods, blue skies, spectacular sunrises and sunsets. We've had moose visiting our neighborhood and property; good to know they are still with us. The grandsons who live in Alaska have all had fine vacations at home and have now returned to their studies elsewhere. The grandsons in Portland have experienced some damaging storms, but so far their home, gigantic walnut tree, and new vehicle have been spared.

The library world has been attacked by book challenges. The political world is unsettling to say the least. On Sunday evenings we watch "All Creatures Great and Small" to connect with the world we once knew and still understand. More book reading for me these days and less news watching; however,  local, state, and federal committee meetings and hearings are still events I like to view. Primary sources I like, as opposed to edited, transformed, and interpreted news with editorial comment.

Hope you are experiencing some good things in your life today, with the anticipation of even better days ahead. May 2024 bring increased peace, goodness, and kindness -- along with a decreased fraud, violence, and sadness.

Our woods look like a black and white photo.

The mountains are full of snow.

'Tis a snowy winter in Willow.  Keith spends much of his time thinking about moving it, moving it, and recovering from moving it.  Then, there are his twice-a-day walks with beautiful Birch and often a walking stick to help stay on his feet. Never a complaint, just the reality of winter in Willow.  Most every day we comment on how very beautiful it is. Before long, he'll be tending his dahlia plants and trying out his new Solo Stove.

As for me, there will continue to be lots of computer time, Zoom meetings, knitting, and soon, I hope, making functional pottery once again in my lakeside studio.  That's it for now. Hope you're well, or at least headed that way! 💕  ~ Carol
