My last post showed a table full of white pottery that had been bisque-fired, but not glazed. Several viewers asked to see some of them after they were glazed and fired a second time, so here are some of the completed pieces:

I call these bouquet or whiskey cups. Six are spoken for. Who knows what these will hold in the future?
| Small bowls, each different from the others. |
| Here's a look at a table full of new pieces. |
| A moose appearing framed by moonlight. |
One of two large casserole dishes with a capacity for 8 cups of liquid.
For fun....I'll be doing more of this, even though it is time-consuming. |
| More square and rectangular plates are coming. |
| More fun on a large wood-grained porcelain tray. |
It's garden time! This piece could have many purposes...canister? vase? utensil holder? It does have a lid, |
| Sea life decor has joined the collection. |
| Stripes, bees, lace and dots are here, too. |
| A close-up image of one of the larger casserole dishes. |
| Six cups of iquid fills this one to the top of the bowl. |
A new watercolor look on mugs, some with moose and mountains, others with lace or leaves, most with dots. |
Many little dishes that like to hold things for you. They are nice to view when empty and useful when full.. |
Someone has dibs on selecting a casserole dish, but two are likely to be available once that selection is made.] These have the ability to bake and serve for longer than any of us will be around! |
There's always more to the story:
Most of the firing went very well, but my concerns in assembling French butter crocks
apparently distracted me from mixing the French green glaze as much as usual. However, knowing well that different folks like different looks to their pottery, I had a friend look at these. She provided some advice and I'm going with it. French butter crocks are tricky and provide many opportunities for decision. Should the glazed parts be glazed separately or together? Where should glaze be applied or not applied? Should there be a handle on top...and if so, what kind so the inner piece, when flipped to access the butter, can be placed flatly on the table? For now, the crock on the left will remain as is. The one on the right will get some amber tea dust glaze on the upper portion of the piece that holds the water. Then, they will be reviewed again.

As usual, the studio is open to visitors upon request. Bring your summer guests by to shop for a unique piece made here at Shirley Lake in Willow. Yes, there will be a scheduled Open Studio Day mid-summer, currently scheduled for July 25. Stay tuned for details and check back close to the date to confirm that July 25 is OPEN STUDIO day at WillowAK Pottery
Many thanks to those who have patiently awaited pieces from this most recent firing. I anticipate completing one more kiln of work before the July 25 Open Studio event. If there is something you'd like included in the next cycle, the sooner I hear from you, the better.
