We're getting ready! It's Willow Garden Club tour time - - self-guided, rain or shine.

For maps and details about the tour, check out the Willow Garden Club blog . For a quick peek at some new work at WillowAK Pottery, check out this video: Thanks to M&M of Northern Spirit Rustics , also on the tour, for making the video! Any event that has lasted 36 years must be something very special. It is. Hope to see you.

As the poster indicates, maps will be available the day of the event; in addition, all tour details and a map are available on the Willow Garden Club Blog at willowgardenclub.blogspot.com .   Hope to see you on July 24!

It's Tradition...Open Studio on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend...May 29

Image
It was nice to reconnect with those who stopped in during an open studio day a few weeks ago. All were repeat visitors who know my work and were interested in having more WillowAK Pottery pieces in their homes and/or for gifts. At the end of the day, I decided it would be good to also have May 29 as an "Open Studio" day, so that's going to happen: •  If you've been to the studio before, please come again. •  If you've not been to the studio, please do come to see what it is all about. •  On Saturday, May 29, come by between 10:00 and 5:00. •  On other days, please text 907-360-3696 to arrange a visit. • Location: 25879 W Southlake Dr., on Shirley Lake This is a working pottery studio where "pieces with personality" are created from clay.   There is nothing here that you NEED, but there are many things that you may like to have for yourself or for others.  Browse the blog postings for a sampling of studio work.

Don't all moms like pottery? Here are some new pieces.  Invite your mom to select...or come by and select for her. WillowAK Pottery is at 25879 W Southlake Dr. on Shirley Lake Open Studio Day...May 7, 10:00-6:00 If you're not in Willow, let me know what pieces interest you and we can work something out. Drop a note to: willowakpottery@gmail.com Speaking of mothers, there is a lot of Mother Nature appearing on the pieces these days: A circle of leaves A bird in blues  Birch leaf Some pieces are grouped by glaze color Fanciful fern Foxy A slice of pinecone Fish in a splash Fish pondering fly Spruce and moose Yellow bird The ultramarines If you've not yet been to WillowAK Pottery on Shirley Lake, this would be a good day to discover a local studio where "pieces with personality" are created of porcelain clay throughout the year. Come by for a look during an open studio day, or...

SPRING...I do believe it is here!

Image
We are hearing the noisy chatter of sandhill cranes; the drip, drip, drip of water running down the drain spouts; and the dramatic thump of snow slides off the metal roofs. We are not hearing snow machines or snow plows. This could be it!  SPRING!! To those of you who have been so very patient for pottery you've ordered,  I thank you. When you said, "no hurry" I really believed you, maybe to a fault. It was not until today that I unloaded a bisque load of new pieces: bacon cookers, flower pots, French butter crocks, serving bowls, mugs, plates, and some just-for-fun pieces that are included in every firing.  Forty-eight in all, and once they are glazed and fired again, you'll see images of many new pieces on a future blog posting and in the studio.  If you placed an order, I will be contacting you directly to invite you to come take your pick. Here's a table full of porcelain pieces ready for glaze application. Please, no earthquakes in the coming week. As I wa...

Yes, It Is Time To Return To Clay

Recent orders have motivated me, thank goodness. Here are sample photos. Some of the items are already sold; most are still available.  If you'd like to do some "private shopping" in Willow for pottery gifts, please get in touch (text or call 907-360-3696) and we'll arrange a time for you to come over. Yes, wear a mask, please.  I will be wearing one, too, and keeping my distance.  Thanks.   First things first. Meet our new golden retriever, Birch. This photo was taken when she was about eight weeks.  She is now about 10 weeks and a fun, energetic, curious pup keeping Keith busy. Sadly, we had say goodbye to our Camai in September and expect to be doing so with Cedar in the not-to-distant future, so having a Birch bundle is really appreciated. Birch! Now to some images of new pottery. If you see something about which you'd like more information, please get in touch.  All these pieces are food, oven, dishwasher and microwave safe.  Thanks for...

Focus...a mug

Image
Hello, again.  I did say that my next posting would focus on pottery. A friend, Diane, sent some beautiful photos this morning of one of my mugs in use at her cabin, and the photos also show the beauty of a table runner made by another friend, Joan.    My inspiration for the week.  Thank you, friends! How nice to see WillowAK pottery in use and appreciated! And how nice to know Hatcher Pass is offering blueberries and bouquets! Have a good week! ~ Carol
