Coming Soon...Open Studio Event on Saturday, July 23,  as part of the Willow Garden Tour. Mark your calendar TODAY.  The gardens are always gorgeous! I am pleased to complement the beauty of the gardens by offering an open pottery studio day where "Pieces With Personality" are displayed and available to those wanting to welcome a new piece of art to their home. For the most part, you will find pottery that is functional and fun to own. Stop by between 10:00 and 5:00 on Saturday, July 23, while out enjoying the beauty of Willow gardens. Soon, I will post images of new work from the kiln. Do come back for a look.  Meanwhile, previous blog posts listed here will give you a look at pieces created at WillowAK Pottery.  Do scout about.

The Magic of May

There's something magical about the transition from winter to summer in Willow.  Today, the lake is filled with some ice and some open water; about half the ground has snow covering, yet the rhubarb and ferns are up; and Keith has pallets of plants hardening off by being outside during the day and inside at night. Gardening and landscaping genes are certainly within him.  Potential,  progress, optimism and hope prevail. My report today is mostly about new pieces of pottery recently unloaded in the studio.  Click on the images to enlarge them; at least that's how it works on my computer. 😊   Special order . . .  now with new owner Mugs of multiple shapes, sizes, and colors Mugs similar in design with different handles Mugs in new glaze color Berry bowls with saucers Botany on pie plates Fun with rims Bacon cooker...now "out of stock" with more to be made Medium-sized bowls...cereal, ice cream, veggies? March...in like a lion, out like a lamb? Really? Promise?

What crazy weather this winter. Thank goodness Keith and his John Deere have a good working relationship; they are spending lots of time together! Days are noticeably longer now, thank goodness, and those with sunshine are spectacular. Yet there is so very much snow to melt this year! View from studio window  where I sit at the wheel. Snow!    Ice sculptures on porch rail stayed frozen for months.  Cold! Keith and John Deere doing almost-daily duty. Keith and Birch out for their twice-a-day walk. Grandniece Taylor here for Iditarod while trading AL for AK for awhile. Inside beauty is especially appreciated in the winter. If you've seen Iditarod mugs I made recently, commemorative plates, and ornaments, all are now in the hands of the Iditarod Gift Shop.          Speaking of Iditarod and weather, we had the perfect restart weather for sending off the 49 mushers and their teams. Excited. Eager. Energized. Hopefully it will be a f...

Yes, WillowAK Pottery,  along with other Willow art studios,  will be open to all on  Saturday, December 1 1.    Stay tuned for details.     ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First, Recollections of Thanksgivings Past: Thanksgiving 2020 we dined in what we call the "cove" of our home, enjoying the company of Cedar, our golden we knew we'd be saying goodbye to soon, and Birch, the new golden puppy who had just joined us. Although we love our dogs, it did not seem very festive or "quite right" to be without family for my favorite dinner of the year! Dr. Fauci said not to gather and we thought that may be a good plan since no one really knew much about Covid-19 at that point...the who, what, where, why, how, and when.  So, we stayed home...just two oldsters, accompanied by a wonderful adult dog and a precious puppy, being thankful, uncertain, and concerned!
